Bulland Farm

Bulland Farm, Ashburton

An old cider orchard on steep grassy slopes and overgrown with brambles was transformed into a beautiful and productive garden over 8 acres with stunning views over the surrounding valley. Included the restoration of an existing pond, the utilisation of an existing stream running through the site, the retention of the healthy remaining trees, and the creation of a terraced kitchen garden with greenhouse. The gardens were designed with wildlife and a growing young family in mind to create a garden to be explored and enjoyed throughout the year. Paths wind through and around the garden with steps and boardwalks linking the various garden areas and levels, including wildflower meadows and waterside planting. The gardens have been lovingly cared for and managed beautifully by the owners and have been opened to the public on occasions through the National Garden Scheme.

Constructed and planted in 2007 and 2008. Photographed in June 2016.
